Team Foundation Server

  • Hi,

Can any1 guide me through the Steps of adding a package to the team foundation server.

    Thanks in advance

  • Do you have a workspace mapped to your local drive?

If not, you need to define your workspace, map it to your local drive. If you already have a folder where your projects live, map it to that location. If you can't map it to that location, create a new location, then copy over your packages to a new folder in that location. Then go into TFS and upload the packages.

Depending on how you have TFS set up, you may have an easy window to it within BIDS. Open up BIDS and (if you don't see it) go to View -> Other Windows -> Solution Control Explorer. This is where you can add / delete / alter workspaces.

To add new folders / files, you can click the fourth icon from the left, a piece of paper with a plus sign on the upper left side. It gives you the option of adding files or folders. If everything is in a folder, add the whole folder so you don't have to add items one at a time.

The rest is pretty intuitive. Let me know if you have more questions.

  • While performing check in i'm getting a warning "Internal error in changeset comments policy

  • Unfortunately, I've never seen that error. Try googling it with "Team Foundation Server". Lots of articles come up. See which one fits your situation.

Also, do you have a TFS admin at your workplace?

  • No we dont have an admin

  • Yikes. So you have no one to go to for answers? That sucks.

I'm working TFS in BIDS 2005, so there's probably a lot of setup in yours that I'm missing. After a brief google of the error, I did notice an article about having certain software installed that caused issues with TFS. So I do advise going through all those articles just to see which one, if any, comes closest to your particular setup.

Also, check Technet on Microsoft's site. I'm sure they'll have a TFS forum where people more experienced in it than I am can help you out.

  • Thank you Brandie...

  • Sorry I wasn't able to help you further.
