tapebackups

  • how to avoid copying SQL Server backups to a tape twice. Please give your proposal on how to avoid copying old backups to a tape.

    Thanks in advance

  • You'd have to look at the tape-related software for that answer.

  • netbackup, backup exec or commvault are the big backup applications

there is also disk to disk, but i still prefer tape and it's a lot cheaper

  • Hello Friends....

In computers, tape backup is the ability to periodically copy the contents of all or a designated amount of data from its usual storage device to a tape cartridge device so that, in the event of a hard disk crash r comparable failure, the data will not be lost. Tape backup can be done manually or, with appropriate software, be programmed to happen automatically.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the info, Carolwood, But that doesn't answer the OP's question. Does that software allow for de-duplicate backup procedures?
