I came out of my body watching the drunken softballers boot the ball around in the outfield, thinking it was going to be an inside the park'er. It was another memorable moment (I had the kids and wife in the front room with me watching 'history') to see how it turned it out.
Lots of respect to KC, the team and the city. All accounts I've heard said they were very accommodating during the series and gracious in defeat.

I know it's just a report from the Miami Herald but he had already admitted to the DEA that he was using steroids while he was denying the use to the baseball public. What a shmuck.
Do the Yankees keep him on the roster/payroll this year or find a way to break the 61+ million dollar contract?

Hopefully break, but not sure they can

He will be filthy rich but won't get into the HOF... I wonder what Yankee fans will do when he come to bat? Might it make a difference if he is hitting .210 or .310?

Speaking as a Yankee fan, I'm thinking he'll get booed his first few times up, but fans will largely be quiet when he comes up, unless he consistently fails to produce, in which case he'll be booed incessantly. So in that case, yes, what he's hitting will make a difference.
It's weird. I have no love for A-Rod, but I don't hate him, either. I actually feel sorry for him (strange as that might sound). I get the impression that he wants to do the right thing, but keeps making all the wrong decisions. And I'd probably feel that way about him, regardless of whether he played for the Yankees, Red Sox, East Cucumunga, etc. He doesn't seem like the Barry Bonds "me-against-the world" type; rather, he seems more like Daryl Strawberry -- a lost soul making bad decisions.

And the newest Hall of Famers are Johnson, Martinez, Smoltz, and Biggio!

Bonds and Clemens at < 40%. Crap from writers.
They were amazing players, even before any PEDs.

I also think it's a crime that Tim Raines hasn't been elected. He was the greatest leadoff hitter not named Rickey Henderson.

And while I'm at it, I also think Edgar Martinez deserves a lot more respect with the voters. He set the standard for DHs. No disrespect to David Ortiz, but if Big Papi gets into the Hall and Edgar doesn't, there's something wrong.

I am thrilled that Craig Biggio will be inducted. He is absolutely deserving. He was an amazing all-around player, excelling behind the plate, at second base and in the field and was perennially a productive hitter. As a Giants fan, I got to see him here in SF many times and loved the way he played the game.

Well, I'm searching for a new team. I missed last year with surgery and they filled their roster. Got told tonight they have 17 and only really want to carry 15-16.
Wonder if anyone wants to pick up a 47 year old infielder.

LOL, we'll see. I can't really manage a team with my schedule, but would like to play.

Was just wondering: would there be any interest from anyone here in playing fantasy baseball?

It would have to be lightweight for me. not a lot of time available to manage a team.
On the downside, looks like A-Rod is trying to play this year. I was hoping he'd just go away.
