Pretty sure Hubbell's was a no-no, not a perfect game. Check out http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2012_06_13_houmlb_sfnmlb_1&mode=recap_home&c_id=sf
Ah, okay. I was thinking no-hitter, not perfect game.
I do think it's interesting that in the long history of the NY/SF Giants, they never had a perfect game. Kinda the same vein where, in the long history of the Yankees, Jeter is the only man ever to get his 3,000th hit in pinstripes.

I believe this is ONLY the 22nd Perfect game in the history of MLB. So, if you look at it that way with 30 teams right now quite a few teams don't have any right?

Yep 22nd, thought quite a few in the last 10 years.
Yankees have 3. Don Larson in the World Series and David Wells and David Cone at the end of the 1900s.

I read the book, Perfect, just before Wells through his and a flurry of perfect games ensued. It's an interesting look at one of the rarest things in baseball.

Speaking as a Yankee fan, I guess I'm spoiled. 😀

Had to post this . . .I have tickets for the Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox on 6/30 (two weeks from this Saturday).
I recently looked at my tickets. I knew they were in the bleachers, but what I didn't know (until I took a closer look) was that they're in the same section as the Yankee Stadium Bleacher Creatures!!!
Oh man, this is going to be fun!!!!!!!!!
Probably not so much fun for my wife though! I'm married to a Red Sox fan!!!
:w00t::hehe::-D
bleacher creatures eh? Well that's an annoying surprise... "de-rek-je-ter" ha
I went to the Yankees/Nationals game yesterday afternoon. Sold out 41k+ crowd mostly Yankee fans, saw 1 Boston jersey (represent!!!).
I had never seen a Yankees game before so I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'll be able to say "I saw A-Rod, Jeter, Cano, and Teixeira play!" as they get inducted into the HOF. I had fun rooting for the Nats and I occasionally found myself clapping for a good play from the Yankees. What can I say, sometimes I lose myself in the game.
great seats, great sunburn, great times.

The Yankees are sure on a roll... 9 straight wins.... My Red's have won 6 straight though too.

Speaking of the Reds, I had to watch this clip 10 times before I could tell for sure what happened.
Yep, Phillips does that on a regular basis. Red's fans are spoiled as we have had some great defensive 2nd basemen over the decades and they basically stole him from the Indians in a trade in 2006...
Joe Morgan
Brett Boone
Pokey Reese
Brandon Phillips
I dare say that Brandon gets to more balls than Hall of Famer Joe Morgan.... can't believe I can say that but it is true as Joe Morgan is a Legend.

Maybe he'd slowed down a step by the time he came to the Giants where I saw him regularly, but even before that, I never thought of Morgan as having extraordinary range. After all, he was at 2B, not SS. His leadership presence and bat made him stand out for sure.

When he was with the Giants it was at the tail end of his career. His best years were in '75/'76 when he WAS the NL MVP in back to back years.
Here are his stats:

Brilliant piece of fielding by Phillips to get that double play going.

At second/third/fourth look, did shortstop really have his foot on the base when he caught the ball coming in from Philips?

In watching it live on TV I believe he did.
Phillips made a bare handed grab on a high chopper to throw out a guy at first last night. MLB highlights doesn't have it though. Another great play.
