Giants start out 0-3, starting pitching gets rocked and the bats are talkin'....weird opening weekend for SF. At least the Yankees and Red Sox are in the same boat.
Steve, you going to Giants/Rockies today? Zito is on the mound, could make for a big homer day from the Colorado bats =p

Great to see Baseball on TV and hear it on the radio once again.
My Reds are 2-1. Can't complain.

Would have liked to go, but it's a zoo, and wasn't sure about scheduling. As it is, my wife leaves at 5 for Boston, so me being gone all day would have been bad.

Yeah, wooo baseball!
I was fortunate enough to get to the final exhibition game when the Red Sox came to town! Great game, lots of fun to watch the boys of summer play once again. My friend asked if he could get me a beer, I declined. He then dropped $8 on a beer and I laughed.
Yeah man, Boston is 0-3. I sure hope this isn't a sign of what the season has to come. We all knew that our bullpen is very weak this year but COME ON MAN!!!! Our whole pitching staff is teh suck. They better figure out what needs to be figured out and get with it soon. The only thing that makes it bearable is the Yankees being 0-3 also.

They did start out 0-6 last year and had to lose 20 games in September to miss the playoffs. The Yankees and the Red Sox will both be fine come summer time.

Sorry for my absence -- been busy!
Tried to stay up to watch Yanks-O's last night, which went (I think it was) 12 innings. I vaguely remembered (through my sleep-induced coma) hearing something about Raul Ibanez driving in the go-ahead run with a double!
VERY glad baseball is back!!!
Can't wait for this summer, when the short-season single-A NY-Penn League starts their season (the Tri-City ValleyCats ballpark is only a mile from my house)! Looking forward to summer nights where I'm sitting at the ballpark with a beer in one hand and a scorecard in the other!

I'm sitting here at work while listening to the Yankees vs. Angels. The Yanks home opener! Top of the 6th, 5-0 Yanks!!! Woo-hoo!!! :hehe:

For you fiction readers out there, I highly recommend Calico Joe (http://www.amazon.com/Calico-Joe-John-Grisham/dp/0385536070). It's a fictional account of a couple of baseball players from back in the 70s. A short book, less than 200 pages, but a really good story nonetheless.

I read an exerpt in SI a couple of weeks ago. Looks like it'll be good! I'll definitely need to pick up a copy.
On another baseball note: over the weekend, I bought two tickets to the Yankees vs. White Sox on June 30!!! :w00t: I'm looking into possibly taking a few days and making it a weekend in NYC with my wife. Love spending weekends down there! (Would like to do it more often if it didn't cost so much $$$.)

I heard an interesting stat last night.
Jamie Moyer pitching for the Rockies and got the win and with that win he became the oldest player ever to win a game in the Majors at 49 years old. His first win was in 1986 and they said that he has pitched to 8% of all batters that have ever stepped into the batters box at the major league level.

That is an amazing stat.
Cain v. Lee last night, a classic in April ('cuz the Giants won, ofc). Scoreless baseball from both starters for 9 and 10 innings, old school style. I'm bummed I fell asleep for the 10th.

An amazing stat, and glad to see Moyer get the win. And the Rockies, of course.

First baseball game for me tonight, under the lights. Ugh, as I get older, I hate lights.

Did anyone see that there was a perfect game thrown against the Mariners in Seattle? The 21st perfect game.
