  • So far the Indians traded for Derek Lowe and the Yankees signed CC long term. We are a rollin'.

  • So, the Hot Stove starts! The Yanks re-sign CC and Cashman.

Good pickup I guess. Anyone to replace the aptly named McPhail (teehee). Perhaps he can make the O's a contender in future seasons. He did good for Boston and for Montreal I guess you can only assume he'll work hard in Baltimore to produce positive results.

  • So, Papelbon is gone to Philly. Good for him and playing for the $$$. Ortiz still isn't signed and to be honest, I wouldn't be hurt or shocked if he goes unsigned.

  • Well, I guess we can call Justin Verlander Mr. Cy MVP.

  • Deservedly so, in my opinion. The guy is a stallion.

Any comments on the Astros situation?

I think it makes sense. Can you name another professional league that has 16 teams in one league and 14 in the other? It should be interesting to see what happens, now that there'll be one interleague matchup every day of the season.

What I don't like is the addition of one more wild card. Aren't eight postseason teams enough? If they can't resolve it in 162 games, what's one more game/team going to do?

Saw this last week on vacation. Glad to see it and glad that no bias prevented it. He was the MVP of the AL.

I think realignment makes sense, get to 15 in each league. I don't love more interleague play, but that's inevitable. Making the schedules more even makes sense.

The other wild card team should add intrigue later. What I'd like better, though, is a bye for the top team, then best of 3 for the first round and then two best of 7s. That would force some competition near the top as well.

  • I like Interleague play as it is today. It gives fans a chance to see teams that they don't see. As a Red's fan I get tired of seeing them play the Pirates 18 times a year. Inter-league play all year... I am not sure about that. Why? This simply means there is no diff between AL and NL except the AL holding onto the DH which, by the way, I dispise.

Another Wild Card I am not a fan of either... simply guarantees that the Yankees AND the Red Sox will never miss the playoffs.

I agree as well.... if 162 games doesn't get you into the playoffs then you don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

  • Congrats (condolences?), calvo -- your team landed Bobby V.!

  • yeah, bobby V.

Hope for the best I guess. Perhaps some crazy dugout antics is just what we need! Better than clubhouse beer pong.

Oritz offered arbitration, Lowrie on the verged of being release/resigned. No word on signing or releasing Wakefield of Varitek yet.

Aside from the manager, no real big moves that I've heard of.

Ellsbury deserved the AL MVP (bias much?).

Verlander is just a pitcher, they have their own awards
