That is impressive.
They got a big jump in the HRs, RBIs, and runs scored stats department.
Geez, how do you let that happen to you. I didn't watch the game so I don't know the pitching situation, but did they just let the pitcher struggle out there? Grand Slam 1 came in the bottom of the 5th. Second came in the bottom of the 6th. Finally the third in the bottom of the 8th.

Rich Harden (the A's starter) actually only gave up 2 runs through the first 4 innings. At that point, it was 7-2, A's.
From the 5th inning on, the Yankees scored at least 4 runs in every inning.

Three grand slams?!? 22 runs???Are you kidding me???
As Bob Uecker once famously said, "a couple of grand slams and we're right back in this thing!"
Amazing. HEard about it, but hadn't read the story. I've rarely come up with the bases loaded, but always hoped I'd have the chance to hit one. I did get a 3 HR game last year, which was pretty exciting.

Yanks, Tigers, Rangers w/ Red Sox squeeking in, only to get knocked out by the Tigers or Rangers.
Phillies, Bucks, Dbacks, with Atlanta knocking out either the Bucks or dBacks.

Steve:
Do you mean the Brewers?
some people think the Brewers would take out the Phillies.

Sorry, confusing my sports. Brewers. Not sure the Bucks will be playing this fall

My bold prediction: whomever plays the Tigers in the ALDS (hope it's the Red Sox -- Calvo: :-P) gets knocked out right away. Reason: two words: Justin Verlander.

Hmmm, either Calvo is ignoring me, or he's busy. I'm surprised he hasn't flamed me for the above comment! :hehe::-D

Well, I thought about it for a while and decided that with a poopoo bullpen you might just be right. But I will not give up hope! Only 2.5 games down and 19 games left in the regular season they can definitely make up the deficit and then some!
On a related note. Man, Wake keeps getting boned! Whether it be run support or bullpen support, it's just not working for him in his quest to 200!

Gotta agree with you on that one. What does it say that even I, a Yankee fan, am rooting for him to get 200? (Just as long as it isn't against us! ;-))
