I'm teaching class Thursday night, and won't get to see the game. I'm hoping he goes oh-for-the-next-couple-of-games.
Caught part of last night's game -- 2 for 5, including a nice solid double to drive in a couple of runs.

Don't look now.... the sky is falling... we are at the midway point of the season and the Pirates... yes the Pirates are 4 games over .500... will 18 years of loosing seasons come to an end? They are only 1-1/2 games behind the Cardinals.

Going down to Maryland for my vacation next week -- I just scored a pair of tickets to the Baltimore Orioles vs. Cleveland Indians for next Thursday!
I am now officially psyched for my vacation!!! :hehe:

Great Ray. Have a good time!
I just got an email from the Reds that the Reds/Braves July 24th game we have tickets for the time has changed from 1 to 8PM because it will be on ESPN!

Enjoy, Ray.
Looks like my first game will be Aug. My wife is planning a team builder with her company for the Rockies/Dodgers.

Yeah, the trouble with bringing my wife to games with me is that we have an agreement that if I take her to a game, she gets to go shopping.
Oh the sacrifices we make . . .

Came across this really nice essay by Doug Glanville that puts Derek Jeter and 3000 hits into perspective.

I always enjoyed reading Doug Glanville's baseball anecdotes that he used to contribute to the New York Times. I want to get my hands on his book.

Wow! Talk about doin' it in style! Congrats, Jeet! Only the second person to have their 3,000th hit be a home run!
I predicted an infield single on July 8th, so there go my 3,000 bonus points (just kidding, Steve).

And 5-5, including the go-ahead game winner. Amazing.

Yeah, I dislike the yanks and most of their players. I dislike them mainly because of their talent (rivals!). Jeter has always been one of those guys that could change the tide of a game or even carry a whole game on his bat. Good for him for getting 3000.
The article was a nice, had a personal touch. But something I almost overlooked is now that kid has a signed bat from a future hall of famer! That thing will be worth some money in the future.
