Boy, Spring Training is in full swing, and this thread's been quiet! No significant news from either the Grapefruit or Cactus leagues?

Seems like overall news has been quiet. Rockies seem to be having a quiet camp.
The old men had practice last weekend, and that was good. Swung a bat for the first time in 6 months.

Giants camp is pretty upbeat 'cept for the news about B. Wilson's oblique strain. Little scary.
Cane's elbow had everyone nervous, also.
They're tearing it up, but it is only Spring Training. I'm actually looking forward to baseball season this year.
What to do with Rowand? Will B. Belt make the team? Can they be as successful as last season without a "big bat"? Is the slimmed down Panda for real?
Fun stuff, can't wait for it all to begin.

Rockies look good overall. We'll see how it translates to the season after signing some contracts with the Big 3 here.

Yankees' big question mark is still their starting rotation, although I understand that A.J. Burnett, Ivan Nova, and Bartolo Colon have been looking pretty sharp. Freddy Garcia and Sergio Mitre might also have claims to the 4 or 5 spots, but we'll see.
Printed out a Yankee schedule the other day, which I have on my corkboard in my office. I'm contemplating which game(s) to attend. I'm thinking about the June 26 game (Old Timer's Day) against -- sorry, Steve -- the Colorado Rockies.

That (old timer's day) can be a lot of fun, and memorable. I grew up in San Francisco and still remember an old timer's day my dad took me to at Candlestick park. I'm pretty sure Bill Terry was there, but the one player I remember was an old catcher nicknamed "Chief".
Thirty-something years later, in the late 1990's, I saw Bobby Bonds, at the time the Giants' hitting coach, hit a home run over the left field bleachers and then circle the bases with an enormous smile on his face, a great memory.

Enjoy the game, and that's always a hard one for me. Fan of both teams. Struggled when they were here a couple years ago, and ended up rooting for the Yankees.
Haven't looked at the Rockies schedule with lots of work keeping me going. I'm going to try to get down there, but I'll hold off for the summer and warmer weather. Ski season goes until Apr 24 for me.

Of course, now this . . .
Yankees Trade Mitre and Sign Millwood
I'm sorry to see Mitre go. The potential was definitely there. I went to a game last summer that Mitre started, and he actually took a no-hitter into the mid-to-late innings before he got hurt.

Fogarty's voice in my mind....
Well, a-beat the drum and hold the phone
The sun came out today
We're born again, there's new grass on the field
A-roundin' third and headed for home
It's a brown-eyed handsome man
Anyone can understand the way I feel
After a few weeks of rain here in San Francisco, it's been sunny the past three days and temps are headed for high 70's today*. Oh, yeah! Baseball is back!
*Not really trying to rub it in for those in northern climes.
