Get up in the dark, come home in the dark. Not sure which is more disturbing,,,,
My wife is fond of telling me that I'm always in the dark! 😉

The San Francisco freakin' Giants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The emotional ride of the last 12 hours has been crazy...I was freakin' crying in my living room with joy, watching the players celebrate. This morning's radio has been just lit up with awesome sound bites, interviews etc. It's a good day to be a Giant's fan.

A managing legend passes . . .
He will be missed here in OHIO and I am sure in Detroit as well. WLW in Cincinnati last night had a great Sports Talk last night with different players calling in sharing great stories of Sparky. He is the all time Reds and Tigers manager with the most wins. Hard to believe with the long history of both franchises. He is #6 in managers with the most wins. He was #3 before Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa and Joe Torre started managing. It really puts into prospective how long he managed.

Any thoughts on the AL Gold Glove list?

And some of them didn't because of Derek Jeter!
And yes, I am a Yankees fan.

Phew . . . I was starting to think I was the only one here! 🙂
Don't get me wrong, I love Jeet, but was he really the best shortstop in the AL this year, as everyone seems to say? Even I find that hard to believe.
It's going to be interesting to see what kind of contract he gets from Hal and Hank.

Don't know why I'm thinking about this (maybe the caffeine hasn't taken effect yet) . . .
Discussion topic: What are the most intense baseball rivalries not called Yankees vs. Red Sox?
Doesn't necessarily have to be between teams -- it can be players, managers, coaches, execs, etc. It doesn't even have to involve the majors -- it can be minor leagues, NCAA, international play, etc.
Go. :discuss:

Lots of Yankee infield in there.
I know people complain about Jeter, but I think we're splitting hairs. I've seen him make some amazing plays from short. Maybe he doesn't have the range of others, but he makes some great plays. And plays that seem to matter in the playoffs.

Definitely Cardinals-Cubs and Giants-Dodgers.
Yep. Those are pretty intense, almost approaching Yanks-BoSox level.
I was thinking about rivalries that are intense but are a bit more obscure for various reasons -- maybe something like a smaller geographic footprint, smaller league, doesn't get as much media attention, etc.
For example, in international play, I know Japan vs. South Korea is pretty intense.
College ball: I'm sure there's no love lost between Arizona-ASU, UNC-Duke, Army-Navy, etc.
Any others?

White Sox-Twins has been intense the last few years. Obviously not as long-standing as those already mentioned but the contests can get heated.

'Giants - As' has taken a whole new step since interleague and the '89 series. In the '80s and early '90s, people used to wear hats that had both logos....you'd never see that in Chicago. Those hats are so obscure now I couldn't even find one to show you on the internet, only this:

Yeah, you wouldn't see it in New York, either. If you're a NY baseball fan, at least most of the time, you're either a Yankee fan, or you're a Mets fan.
There are some people who are fans of both, but they're few and far-between.
