What a no-no. Caught the highlights last night. Amazing, exciting, and a fantastic play to end the game. That's the throw that I see blown the most often in my old man's league.
Just a piece of trivia from Mike and Mike
- In all of baseball, over 100 years, no hitters have been .1% of games.
- In all of baseball, over 100 years, no hitters in the playoffs have been .2% of games.
More no-nos in the postseasn.

So, the current tally, as of this morning . . .
ALDS:
Rangers lead the Rays, 2 games to 0.
Yankees lead the Twins, 2-0.
NLDS:
Phillies lead the Reds, 1-0
Giants lead the Braves, 1-0.
So . . .
Ray K's ALDS analysis: Twins and Rays are on the brink of elimination. Rays are resiliant and capable of coming back, as unlikely as it might be (although it's happened before). Going to be tough, though, against a tough Texas team. History is on the Yanks side, so they probably have a psychological edge on the Twins. (Manager) Ron Gardenhire must be like Lou Brown in Major League: "Someday we'll figure out how to beat these guys." Maybe, but probably not this year.
And, on the NLDS side: Like the Yankees, the Phillies have a psychological edge right now; Halladay's no-no really had to take the wind out of the Reds' sails. They're capable of playing tough, but with Roy Oswalt and Cole Hamels in the Phil's rotation, they have their work cut out for them. I thought maybe the Braves' experience and Bobby Cox's magic would make them competitive, but now I'm thinking they might not have the horses to beat San Francisco. Granted, 1-0 isn't a huge loss, but a loss is a loss in the postseason.

I just don't see the Red's winning a game... and I am a big Red's fan! Roy Oswalt is something like 23-2 against the Red's lifetime and Cole Hammels is a very good pitcher too. The Phillies have three very dominant starters right now.
The Yankees are the Yankees....

Likewise, I'm a big Yankee fan, but having said that, I'm dreading a potential Yankees-Rangers series. Texas has had our number this year. I was telling some friends before the postseason that I hoped we got the wild card, because I didn't think we could survive Texas in a best-of-five series. In a seven game series, we might have a chance, but we lost some very close games against them this year, and our pitching staff is vulnerable (although Andy Pettitte looked good last night).
In any case, I think the Phillies are going all the way. This seems to be their year.

33 "swing and misses" for Lincecum, post season record for strike outs. Posey gets a knock, steals second (was he out?) and scores the team's only run. The Giants probably won't get past the Phillies, but the future is, indeed, bright.

Missed the weekend camping, but nice to see the Rays coming back. Sorry the Reds didn't put up more of a fight.

Reds were in the drivers seat Friday night... commited four errors and pitchers hit batters... they basically gave that one away. A very young team with some good young starting pitching. Hopefully they will be back next year.
Glad to see the Rays come back and win two.
To me it is looking more and more like a Yankees vs Phillies. That H2O starting pitching the Phillies have is nasty.

I'm not so sure about the Yankees in the Series. Both Texas and Tampa Bay have given us trouble this year, so regardless of which team wins that series, we're going to have an uphill climb.

Personally I'd like to see different teams in the big game. Rays vs Giants would be a welcome sight if ya ask me. It just seems like both the Phillies and the Yankees when they get a change and need that hit or great pitching performance they can get it done. The Big Three Philly starters remind me of the dominating Big Three in Atlanta in the 90s.

As much as I'd love to see my Yankees win another one, I'm a baseball fan, not just a Yankee fan, and would enjoy seeing the Rays in the Series. (I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to root for Texas.) I'm indifferent about both the Phillies and the Giants (again, I can't bring myself to root for Atlanta -- maybe I'm biased against teams south of the Mason-Dixon line -- I dunno), but since I'm an AL fan, I'd probably pull for either the Yanks or Rays in the Series.

Giants baseball = TORTURE
They proved me wrong against Atlanta (I didn't think they'd get past the first series, regardless of who they played). Now they have me hoping against the Phils.
I've said it to anyone who will listen: this post season has already been a success, as it will finally show the rest of the league who didn't want to come hit at AT&T because of their precious little home run totals that the park isn't that big and that this pitching staff is LEGIT (and will be for years to come). To all the FAs that passed on the Giants and are now sitting home watching October baseball, I say "HA!". Next year the bats will be chomping to come contend for a title.

Rays/Rangers, still a chance for them to prove me right that Texas will win.
Good to see the Giants win last night.
I'm rooting for the Yankees since I think this is the last one for a time. Jeter is getting older, Rivera, pitching aging and thin. I'd like to see them go again, though having Texas or TB would be good for smaller teams that might get hope.
I would have liked Cinci to go, but if they can't, I'd prefer SF to win.

The thing is with Jeter and Rivera... yea they may be past their prime but when the time coes they will sign the best free agent or trade for another soon to be Hall of Famer to replace them. They will continue to roll along.
I'd like to see the Rays and Giants play... lets really change it up for a change. It will most likely be Phillies and Yankees though.

In the past, especially under the old "bad George (Steinbrenner)" regime, I would've agreed with this, but this isn't necessarily true anymore. They've actually been doing a pretty good job of grooming homegrown talent (e.g. Phil Hughes, Robinson Cano, Joba Chamberlain, et al). I understand they have a hotshot catching prospect -- I think his name is Jesus Montero -- whom I believe they're grooming as the heir apparent to Jorge Posada.
And keep in mind that Jeter, Rivera, Posada, and Pettitte all came through the Yankee farm system (I actually saw them play way back when Albany, NY was a Yankee AA farm team); they were never acquired through trades or free agency.
