Moneyball - the movie? With Brad Pitt playing Billy Bean? Great book that made me see the game differently, but I'm not sure about how it will translate to the big screen.
p.s. Go Phils! I wonder who will go on the DL next...

Moneyball as a movie? That would be interesting?
Is Bean still with the As? They're certainly not doing well. A few of the prospects in the book haven't panned out as well. Wonder if that means that some of the theories don't work? 'course Nick Swisher and Youklis are doing well.

The movie is mainly going to center around the 20 game win streak, in '02 (I think). Yeah, Bean is still with the A's.
Stinkin' Rockies are winnin' 4 - 0...Steve is lovin' it right now...

A new milestone: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=5437158
Have to say I thought a-Rod was bad karma when he went to the Yankees, especially in '04, but he didn't stop them last year.

With all of the steroids clouds hanging over MLB it seems like the huge HR totals have lost their luster really. There are a ton of guys close to the 400HR mark where that was almost impossible to achieve.

More proof that baseball is a funny game.
On one night, the Toronto Blue Jays blow out the Tampa Bay Rays, 17-11.
The very next night, Toronto nearly no-hits Tampa Bay, 1-0.
Go figure.

4th or 5th no-no this year lost in the 9th. We'd have a record no-no year if those had been completed. Props to the manager for leaving him in there.

I just bought Rockies tickets for my trip!
Steve -- as promised, I just sent you a PM with my contact info.
Now I'm really psyched for this trip!

Interesting article here -- consider this a cautionary tale for Stephen Strasburg.

Looks like Stephen Strasburg is going to be on the shelf for a while . . .

Hopefully he comes back stronger, I like the kid.
Tim Lincecum's dad, who appears fairly regularly on the San Francisco sports radio shows called it, though. He was asked what he thought about Strasberg, told the show that he thought that he 'short arms' the ball and would have problems with his elbow/shoulder soon if he didn't change.

I hate to say that surgery is routine (no surgery ever is, IMHO), but Tommy John surgery is pretty common these days. Even Mariano Rivera had Tommy John done when he was in the minors.
Better for Strasburg to have surgery now while he's still young and it's early in his career. He should bounce back better than ever.
