    Quiet here lately!

Glad to see my Yankees are finally breaking out of their funk!

(Cue backlash from Red Sox fans and other Yankee haters in 3...  2...  1...) 🙂

Cue the smart ones in that category that recognized long ago that bashing the Skankees was beneath them.
And besides, they aren't even worthy of a good tongue-lashing...

    😛 😀

  • Wow.  Quite an eventful night in MLB last night!

  • Went to Yankees vs. Rays this past Saturday!  Severino with eight shutout innings and nine strikeouts!

Here's my scorecard from the game!

  • I enjoy keeping score when I go to a game.  I'm going with the whole family to Brewers at Reds in a couple weeks; never seen a game at "The Great American Ballpark".

  • So I was thinking...

I'm interested in possibly learning more about BI.  What better way to teach myself than baseball statistical analysis and sabermetrics?

In fact, I started drafting a blog article in which I talk about this endeavor.

What do you folks think about this approach?  Thoughts?  Any resources I should check out?

If I do finish my blog article, I'll post a link in this forum!

2018 World Series Champs, Pirate's!!  🙂   Heck, I'll be happy if they finish above 500, the bums.

We are not quit halfway through the season and they are already circling the drain.  Pathetic!!

  • I made a copy of the Landman baseball db for SQL Server a couple years ago. I can send it since their scripts are mysql based. Not fun converting that.

Thanks for sharing, Ray.  My forays into BI have always been stalled because I wasn't able to really relate to the data; your approach is something I've been churning around in my head for a while.  I'll be looking forward to your posts.

Out here on the west coast, the Giants are battling through their trials, keeping above .500 and looking to sweep the Rockies today.  The "Brandons" (Belt and Crawford) are key contributors.

My mom and brother were at the Sunday game which ended in an 11 inning walk off by old man Pence, right after the Padres had gone ahead in their half.  Fun stuff.

Well, I did post another BI article -- this one talks about an intro to data warehousing.  Give it a read and tell me what you think (and if anyone knows anything about data warehouses, tell me whether or not what I wrote is accurate).  Alas, this one doesn't revolve around baseball, although I do use a baseball example to talk about facts and dimensions.

  • So now that Manny Machado has finally landed in LA, any thoughts on the Hot Stove as we approach the non-waiver trading deadline?

My Yankees still need a good starter.  I'm hoping for Jacob deGrom from the Mets, but I'm not holding my breath.

I can't believe my eyes, the hottest team in baseball, as of this moment, won 9 in a row.  I just know they are going to get my hopes up, only to have it all come crashing down.

  • How about this insane double play over the weekend?  If this isn't the play of the year, I don't know what is.

Wow, in my dreams could I throw like that. However, I have been caught in that situation. I took off on a hard liner to right. The guy dove towards the line to catch it, at which point I was partway to third. He got it back to first before I did.
