Talking baseball

Have to say I'm less excited this year. Between not playing (time, shoulder), and the Rockies not looking good, I'm a little down.

    🙁

You can always adopt the Detroit Tigers as your American League team.

    I think he's already adopted the Yankees. (Right, Steve? 😀 😉 )

I was wondering who'd respond first, you or calvo! 😀

(in his best Darth Vader voice) "Come, join us! You don't know the power of the Evil Empire! Together, we will rule baseball!!!"

  • Yankees for me, and Rockies since I live in Denver.

Too busy with kid stuff this year. Middle kid graduates HS and the younger one is busier with volleyball. Add in two trips my wife wants + SSC speaking, and I'm gone for a minimum of 12 of the 18 games. Not worth it.

Plus my shoulder is acting up, so I'm thinking to give it more time to heal, and work on strength a bit this year.

  • Booooo to you and Ray K!!!! The Evil Empire will crumble to the ground!!!

    Will? Isn't it?

It has before. After the 70s, quite a drought.

    But they will come back.

  • Go Reds!

And no I do not want to by your bridge. Actually have not followed baseball for many years. Hope to get to a Columbus Clipper game this year though.

    What Steve said. 🙂

We have a nice mix of youngsters coming up: Luis Severino, Greg Bird, Aaron Judge, Rob Refsnyder, etc. Whether or not they can be our new "core four," time will tell. And we also have some solid young talent: Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Dellin Betances, etc.

We probably won't win it this year, but if those guys can put it together, look out!

I dislike A-Rod, as I've disliked Clemens and Boggs in years past. I wish they had been able to trade/release/suspend him.

I hear you, but we're stuck with him, so all we can do is make the best of the situation.

Besides, he was on his best behavior last season, so unless he relapses back to his bad old ways, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

  • I agree. He was better last year. However I still think of the collapse against the Red Sox. I was sure he'd never get a ring, since he just doesn't perform in the post season. He proved me wrong, but I'm not sure he's a clutch player.

To me, he's like a lot of players in many sports. Great stats, perform well in the regular season, don't come through in the clutch.

  • Just found out that a coworker is a Yankee fan. This after I found out that another coworker, from Massachusetts, is also a Yankee fan. The paiiiiiin!!!! que horror!

I've been contemplating whether or not I want to get MLB.TV Premium through MLB, MLB TV through Fios, or just MLB At Bat from the app store (for radio broadcasts). MLB.TV actually has some pretty cool offerings this year (and $20 cheaper!). You can purchase the whole sh'bang, subscriptions for a single team, or monthly.

I normally just go with AT Bat. It's about $20 for the season since I don't have time to watch that many games anyway, I can play them on the radio anywhere. Not to mention you get a daily free game 😀

I wish they had an option where they had a team blacklist to avoid scores, news, broadcasts, and video of a single team. Unless, of course, it conflicted with your favorite teams list. 😉

Here's hoping Panda is more.... athletic than he was last year. He could be a solid replacement for Ortiz on and off the field.

  • $100/yr seems pricey to me, but I get that they're trying to provide the service. What I'd really like is a $2 game. I listen sporadically, and usually want to catch a game over audio because of bandwidth.

However no one makes it easy, especially for local games. Radio isn't always an option, so I end up being more disconnected at a time when we should be more connected. I wish the NBA/NFL/MLB would let people just have a game here and there at a reasonable cost. NBA has gotten better, but not great. NFL with Verizon was nice, but unreliable and caused a decent amount of frustration.
