Euhm. A tabular model is not a cube, if that is what you are going at.
A tabular model are just a bunch of tables where measures can reside in any table.
In a cube, you have the explicit distinction between measures and dimensions.

Koen,I second that tabular model database is not a cube..
But I am seeing some Microsoft guys using word "tabular cube"

In my opinion, it's incorrect usage of the term.
It's a tabular model and a multidimensional cube.

I see Other place where Microsoft is referring tabular database as cube.
in SSDT,right click your tabular project>Properties>Under Deployment server
I see "model" as cube name..

It's possible. There is a compatibility between Tabular and Multidimensional in the sense that client tools should be able to work with both.
For example, SSMS, Excel and the SSRS query designer. However, some of those were not brought up-to-date so they refer to the model as the cube.
