It does look like the problem existed on the 2000 server, just not as obvious. I'm not sure how it happened though.

I presume it's a version-related issue because I have the same problem with a stored procedure in the master database, marked as is_ms_shipped on one server and yet not on another, the servers not having the same SP/hot fixes installed.
