Table & matrix layout/alignment

  I have a matrix report to which I want to include a table. I want to align them side by side so to the end user it looks like one matrix/table and not two different items.

  In the layout tab of BIDS I can align the table to the right of the matrix but when I preview the report the table is pushed out leaving a gap between the matrix and the table.

  Is this not possible with reporting services? I don't understand why it wouldn't/shouldn't be but I can't find a way to make it work.
