Thanks, it's not the end of the world. It was just a really handy feature that I'd gotten used to and was hoping that there was another product out that that did a similar job for SSMS 2016.

I preferred to use the Winforms app to avoid sending queries through the network.

Auto formatted code can look a bit dry. If you think it's worth spending a little money on genuine hand crafted SQL formatting (with all the little ticks and imperfections intact) but you don't have the time, then you can offload the task to Amazon's Mechanical Turk service. They'll even add comments, fix bugs, or finish off work in progress. There is a web service and .NET api for submitting work units, so you could develop a SSMS add-in as well.

+1 SQL Prompt
It would be pricey if it were only providing code formatting but it is much much more than that. It is worth every penny in my opinion.

SSMSBoost has a version that's compatible with SSMS 2016 with a formatter that can handle RESTORE statements.

It works so much better than any of the paid options that I've seen (looking at you ApexSQL)

There is a free SQL formatting tool from Apex, probably not as good as Redgate's, but you can configure the formatting quite extensivley.
