System Center DB concerns! Microsoft Databases

  • Hi all,

We just upgraded SCCM to r3 and ive started monitoring the back-end with Red Gates SQL Monitor. Over the weekend ive got over 1k warnings about long queries. Is this normal with SCCM, There seem to be 2-5 queries that keep on getting repeated every few mins..

How does everyone like to deal with 3rd products. Cant change the query only your local box.

It this something i should learn to live with and move on?

    thanks for any advice

    Stephen

  • Dealing with a third party is a tricky business. They might have a clause stating that if you do any change on the DB, they will not support the product. Some will allow you to add index. It is best to contact the 3rd party and tell them that you have performance issues. They MIGHT do something about it in the next build or something.

What did you define "long queries" as?

    --Jeff Moden

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
