I have a procedure around 2500 lines. When i try to get the definition of the procedure using sys.sql_modules , it is getting truncated.
I was of the asassumptionhe sys.sql_modules and OBJECT_DEFINITION() can acaccommodateore than 4000 characters because of the NVARCHAR(MAX);
Are there any limilimitations the sys.sql_modules and aOBJECT_DEFINITION() also?

Are you viewing this in SSMS? There is a limit to the amount of characters that will be returned in SSMS. Tools -> Options -> Query Results -> Results to Grid

It could be a limitation of SSMS.

SSMS won't return more than 8000 chars. You could use substring to review the complete code.

Quick though, use the object_definition function, that is the same as the system views use. Don't recall that I changed any settings on the system I'm using, brings back everything that's less than 2Gb. Try this code for a size.

when i copy the procedure to word and get the word count then it is 124451.
