How dumb of an idea is it to place Sybase SQL and Microsoft SQL on the same server? My company is buying some Micros system (food sales and management) and Micros uses Sybase as its backend. I'm suggesting a separate server for the Sybase. Any thoughts?

In my experience, really dumb. At least in older versions Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server were too similar and just wouldn't work together. Now with 2000? Who knows, this was back in 6.5.

I have SQL Server 2000 installed with Sybase in one server as test server. It works fine but you have to be aware of the resources needed by both applications are intensive.
