I have may query requsts that show as suspended in activity monitor - SQL Server 2005 Standard edition - according to microsoft "The status field does not contain the reason the process was suspended" - Does anybody know where I can find the reason these processes are being suspended?
They all show a waittype of PAGEIOLATCH_SH

I'd be interested if you find out why. We are getting this to happen too!

Same here, SQL Server 2005, and trying to bulk insert some data which has slowed down to a crawl after going at a rate that I'd expect for this type of setup in the beginning. Activity monitor shows the process as suspended ... now and then it seems to wake up and insert a few thousand rows, then it's in suspended again. I have this feeling it may be I/O contention related to some sub-optimal setup with the fiberchannel disk array the box is using. Will try to research in that direction. But it'd be great if sbd had more info on this "suspended". Google turns up surprisingly little. Is this a SQL Server 2005 only state, i.e. sth that's fairly new?

Has anyone found out what causes the "suspended" status issue in SQL 2005?
