  I encountered a problem, I'm upgrade my database from SQL2K (SP4) to a newly setup SQL2005 server standard Edition (MSCS, SP2). The new server is a 4 way Quad machie with 32 GB of memeory, attached to a EMC SAN. When I try to restore the database, it always 'hung', the status shoing 'suspended',the waitype showing 'backupthread'. But, if I use the same backup to a lot low end sever that also with SQL2K5 it works fine.

  We already called Microsft and their su[pport is getting worst, case been opened 3 days and just get nowhere.

  Any help will be appreciated.

  As a work around until MS support helps, perhaps restore to other 2005 server then detach/attach to your destination server?
