Surface Area Configuration not displaying Database Mail service

    Hi,

    Database Mail service (SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition with Service Pac 1) is not displaying under database engine. But I'm able to configure Mail services and it is working fine. But why Database Mail service is not displaying under Surface Area Configuration?

    Please help me to solve this issue. Thanking you in advance.

    There wouldn't be any option for database mail as it is not a service. In fact, it is designed on a queued architecture which uses service broker technologies.

    Whenever a mail is sent, it is queued in the service broker queue which starts the external database mail program (i.e databasemail90.exe). This program reads the information from the queue and sends to the designated mail servers.
