Hi.
I have 2 instances of SQL Server running on the same machine.
SQL 2008 Enterprise and SQL Express 2005. The sequence of installations was.
1st SQL 2008 Standard Edition
2nd SQL 2005 Express
3rd SQL 2008 Enterprise (upgrading the 2008 standard)
My problem is that I have only 1 copy of surface area configuration and it's in the SQL 2005 portion of the start menu, it doesn't appear in SQL 2008. It seems to be a version that only supports SQL Express because it points to it when I run it and there's no possibility to change it to connect to my SQL 2008.
I tried adding components but I don't see the configuration tools anywhere in the setup screens. How do I get SAC for my SQL 2008 instance ?

There is no SAC tool in 2k8.
Instead, open your 2008 Management Studio.
In Object Explorer, right click on the server name > select facets
In the window that opens up, select Surface Area Configuration from the Facet: dropdown.

That explains why I couldn't find it 🙂
Thanks a lot.
