stored proc will not run against remote server

  try to run a stored proc to a remote server and get the following error:

  Could not find server 'KY1-W2K8-SQLINV\SQLEXPRESS' in sys.servers. Verify that the correct server name was specified. If necessary, execute the stored procedure sp_addlinkedserver to add the server to sys.servers.

  tried to add a linked server but would not connect. servers will ping each other thinking it is a permissions thing but not sure where to start. any help is appreciated

  Is the server added as linked server? Looks like it is not.

  Look at the following url and add linked server first.
