We have about 10 Sql servers (6.5/7/2000). Some are production, some development, and some are web backends. Each box has it own local storage, with 80GB being the maximum RAID storage on most of the boxes.
What do you recommend for the next upward step to consolidate and increase our storage capactiy? The boss is a bit leary of SANS at this moment and I'm not familiar with other storage technologies.

SAN's are pretty expensive still. Take a look at this article, an interesting point of view from Jim Seymour at PCMag.

If you don't have the need for a SAN, I'd stay away. You are spending $$ and taking chances for no reason. SANs are usually looked at for the 100s of GB range
