1. Disable tran dump job on primary
2. Disable copy job on secondary
3. Disable restore job on secondary
After you done enable all the above jobs

Alpesh... you are correct... but if this database is a heavy hitting OLTP, the logs on the source db will fill. My suggestion would be depending on how long you want to disable the log shipping, I'd leave the log file jobs enabled and only disable the job that applies the log to the read-only db. I've used this as a reporting shadow in some instances.
For what it's worth.

Hi everybody,
We have a DR site about 1000km away from our primary site, so full backups of the databases can' be shipped on WAN (size @ 13gb). Hence I want to take backup on standby server. We have configured log shipping. Is it possible to stop log shipping for some time, open standby database in normal mode, take a backup, again make it standby & start log shipping. Please advice on the situation.

Abhijeet,
Abhijeet,
Please do not 'hijack' other people's posts.
Proper practice:
1. start your own thread.
2. do not 'hijack' other threads.
3. pay attention to when a thread was started...this one is over 3 years old.
4. don't post the same question multiple times.
