We have 6 'runaway' processes running aganist a linked server which I cannot KILL. Is there any other method besides stopping the server to get rid of these running processes? They each are in a PAGEIOLATCH-IS wait.

reboot the server or kill them on the linked server side.

If you see anything running in the Distributed Transaction Coordinator, you may also be able to kill it from there.

Rebooting the server did the trick, as I knew it would. I hope MS can come up with a better answer for production environments.
