Stop the madness

  • Is there a terms of usage for this board? I've seen them on other boards. Generally something along the line of 'no profanity, be polite'

Personally, I get very upset when I post a reply to someone's problem and then get insulted by another poster, just because he doesn't agree with something I've said.

Disagreement is fine, insults are not. Most people here are very polite, very friendly, but there are 2 who come to mind whose posts I'd rather not read.

We walk in the dark places no others will enter
We stand on the bridge and no one may pass
  • I made one post and left it at that as I had nothing new to say. Not everyone subscribes to this behaviour concept though.

Maybe we should introduce an {ahem} eBay style rating system so we can rate our peers and colleagues on their contribution to the site. Then again, maybe not

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

  • It is  nothing compared to the 1 = .9999999 wars from some time ago.

  • Hadn't heard that one.  Must have been before I joined the site.

  • now that's a war I could get into!

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.

    Those are mild posts.

Please post DDL ... Why are you so rude?

You really have no idea how time works!! What the hell is that AM and

  • And it is starting again in a different thread (and no, I'm not getting involved).

  • Oh come on Lynn, we could get a 1000 post thread going

Actually it's kind of become fun to watch them go.

  • What's the url??

  • Cause I am tired of the personal attacks for the most part.  It's gotten to the point it isn't worth debating with some people.

  • Steve, Combine to two threads on Bankers Round and you get close (depending on how you round :rolleyes

  • Lynn, I think you may be onto something. If ":rolleyes" would represent rounding, what icon would we use to express BR?

  • This one : .

  • Nah... this one...   One individual had a devil of a good time leading others on just for the sake of a good bar room brawl.  I rather enjoyed watching how people reacted... learned more about people from those two posts... got a couple of interview questions out of them, as well.  My favorite is "If you come across a group of Developers arguing about a method or a madness, how do you conduct yourself?"  Another favorite might be "Do you know anything about banker's rounding?  No?  Great!  Your hired!"
