I'm just going to thru out some ideas that I hope you and other sql practitioners find playful. Things you can have fun with. A lot of the gallery seems to take their que(s) from you. So what doya say, cut me some slack jack 🙂 Sql mavens love to play in their own way. That's where I'm coming from. No ones asking you to take a ditch, nor dig one. So how bout you drop the chop 🙂

Deflecting doesn't make it any better. Try being a little more professional in your communications. You, unfortunately, haven't earned the right to use less formal forms of communication with some of us.

  • Steve,

You just don't get it, do you? You really need to drop the cutesy talk and try being more professional in your communications. I really enjoy "playing" with other technologies, but based on your own behaviour I just want nothing to do with Dataphor at this time.

Why? Look at your communications in this thread and The Rant. More than enough reason for me to discount most of what you have said to date.

  • Steve, anything about THE MATTER?

If you did not notice it's kinda professional forum.

Lets not be so quick to drop what you call 'cutesy' 🙂 Do you realize that for over thirty years the relationship between the sqland and relationaland can be categorized by one word - 'Failure'. Failure to communicate in any sensible way because there's been nothing except antagonism and ill will. Where the blood is bad there's little that can come out good. Relationaland has essentially proffered a scorched earth attitude. In plain english it has espoused that sql sucks. It's divorced from relational theory, its declarative syntax is a mess and the concept of 'fixing it' is without sense. Can you spell Fabian Pascal or Hugh Darwen. Sql has been hammered from one end of ddl to the other end of dml. And with the coldest logic and without mercy. And what really has this accomplished? How's total alienation for starters. Who in their right mind wants to be told, in no uncertain terms, they don't know squat about the basis of their profession. That their nothing but a bunch of pretenders! Certainly there must be other avenues to explore so as to present some new ideas that are rather abstract to begin with to sql users. And that they'll be receptive to. Perhaps if you can open a window of playfulness and curiosity logic will follow 🙂 You can lead a horse to water but you can't make'em drink. So what the hell, try chocolate milk 🙂

Here is the problem, as I see it. You are all talk and no action. You have yet to put forward anything of substance. You continue to use in appropriate language for a professional forum and to be honest, you are losing the opportuninty to make any kind of headway in convincing anyone that you even have a viable alternate to MS SQL Server, Oracle, Informix, DB2, MySQL, PostreSQL, InterBase, Firebird, or any of the other various SQL Server systems that are available. In fact, I can't seem to find any commercial ventures using Dataphor. So, at this point, you either put up something definative, or just go away.

Heh... listen to the pot calling the kettle black about hostility. 😉

I personally don't give a rat's patooti if SQL is relational or not. Your arguments and griping do nothing here. Take it to Microsoft, if you have the nerve.
