Hi
I have currently going through the excellent stairways for Indexes. Despite the examples being for Adventureworks SQL 2005 version, I am still able to understand what is happening because of the way the series takes one step at a time.
I have started to look at the databases I am supporting and notice areas to try improvements (on a test system). However there also looks to be a mess with the system generated statistics that I would like to also look. I am struggling to find knowledge that can lead me in stages like the stairways series do.
Is there any chance someone could start a stairways series on statistics.
Thanks in advance.

I think statistics is not a topic that could be explained in a stairway, because there is not much to say about it.
This book http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/books/94937/ of Grant Fritchey is very good for execution plans and it also touches statistics.
One article that is well describing stats is following https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/performance/managing-sql-server-statistics/

I will have a look at those and see if it helps.
If not then I shall post in the forums.
Many thanks
