Does anyone know of a good article (link) out there on the pros & cons of SSRS versus Crystal? I need it because one of the software replacements we're looking at uses Crystal, which we currently use (and I don't care for). I want to make a case for a different solution that uses SSRS (which I have no experience with - but surely it's got to be better!). Thanks a heap!

For those who need a distribution solution for either Crystal or SSRS, you may want to consider rePORTAL. It allows you to publish Crystal and/or SSRS reports (any versions) through a secure web portal and also includes a powerful scheduling engine. It is a server license so there are no user or report limits and best of all you do need any distribution software like Report Server. You can publish your SSRS and Crystal reports out of the box.

I downloaded the free trail version of Stonefield Query, and created reports in mins. Gotta say it's one slick app. Hands down easier to build reports than using Crystal.

While IT Central Station does not yet have reviews for SSRS, you can find real user reviews for other Crystal Reports alternatives here.
As an example, this .Net Developer in particular notes that he chose Windward for his company over Crystal Reports, as well as Intelledox, Stimulsoft and DevExpress. He writes, "It saves our time in designing reports. It creates better layouts and performance. We already have more than 20 templates." You can read the rest of his review here.
