Hi,
This issue occurs on the report server.
After choosing parameters and clicking "view report" the report should render. But instead it seems like nothing is happening at all. The green processing circle does appear. But you don't even see it spinning. It doesn't move at all.
This is the case with certain users.
With other users the report renders fine. (click "view report"; green circle spins; report data (table) appears)
I can't figure out what is causing this problem. Could it have something to do with client settings or browser settings?
If anyone can help me out, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Kind regards,
Houssin

Have you done any troubleshooting at the database level with sp_who/sp_who2 to see if there is blocking?
Does it happen to the same users every time for every report?
Does it happen with specific reports only?
What is the traffic on the web server that serves the report? Is it being maxed out?

The "Spinning Wheel" is just an animated gif. The fact that it is not spinning suggests that you have some problem with the web page displaying on the client.
If some client machines are working, look for differences in the web browser version or security settings. It may be that most of your users have your report server in one zone and some do not, or the users having issues have some of the additional security features of windows or Internet Explorer enabled.

Does the report render eventually for those users experiencing these issues? I've seen it sometimes where the animated gif doesn't appear or partially appears but eventually the report still runs. I guess what I'm asking is...do you actually get an error or is this just an aesthetics thing?

Thanks for the quick replies.
It happens to the same users for a specific report. Other reports render fine.
I understand the spinning wheel can act strange and mostly still run the report. But in this case the report doesn't get rendered. A certain user even left it running for more than an hour with no result. Because the report hasn't even started to render I guess.
I don't receive any error messages. After clicking "view report" the screen just freezes (I guess, by the looks of the spinning wheel) and that's it.
I will follow some of your suggestions and do some checks on that part. If I find out more, I'll let you know about it.

Have you tried to look at what the logfile states? Look in the path to your iis path to the ssrs and find the most recent log, then have someone run the report (that can't access it) and review the bottom of the log. Post the error here. Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\Reporting Services\LogFiles
I think you will find your issue in the ReportServerService_ *** log file.
Also make sure the user has access to run the report. Furthermore... What browsers are we dealing with here? I know mozilla has trouble rendering reports.
Thanks,
Brian
