I am working on Sql Server 2005 Express with Advanced Services and trying to set up the ability for users to view reports from their desktops. BOL is very unclear about if this is possible, and how to do it. The SSRS portion is installed on the same server as SQL Express (of course), it is installed on the Domain Controller, and all users are trying to connect remotely.
When a user navigates to the URL, the title block comes up without any of the links, and the user who is set up as the admin gets a "insufficient rights" error when using the BI Dev Studio to "deploy" reports to the server.
Only the Network Admin account gets more than the title block on the report URL.
Am I running into a "features block" or a permissions error? Also, the BOL talks about setting up users in the predefined roles ("browser", "publisher") but I have been unable to find these roles listed anywhere in the software (I am aware that I can only use the pre-defined roles in the Express edition). Again, BOL isn't clear on where that is.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi
I am not 100% familiar with the SRS Express edition - but this may help.
The machine that hosts the SSRS required IIS to be installed - you should then be able to:
Right Click on My Computer then click Manage --> Expand Services and Applications --> Expand Internet Information Services - Open Up Websites - Open Default Websites
You should then see 2 websites called Reports and Report Server, If you right-click on Reports and select browse - you should load up the default reports page.
Once the default report page is up then look for the properties tab and security under that - then add the user(s) as browser etc.
If no joy - then try changing security of the 2 above mentioned websites under properties.
Thanks
Kevin

Ok, I am still struggling with this issue and have been scouring the forums here. I think I have narrowed down what I think is the crucial issue. I need to assign the "Browser Role" to users on the network.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337471.aspx
BOL only has instructions on how to do this from "SSMS" and their screenshots are different from SSMSExpress. Where do I find the place to assign "Browser Role" in SSMSExpress? Or, alternatively, where do I find "Home" as referenced in the link above ("2. Right-click Home and select Properties.") because my SSMSExpress looks nothing like the BOL's screenshot?
This is getting to be a very urgent issue.

Ok, let me ask an even simpler question, can anyone who is using SQL Server Management Studio Express perform the steps as laid out in:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa337471.aspx
If so, does your UI match the screenshots, or did you have to perform other tasks in order to accomplish the steps in the link above?
