SSRS error

  • I have installed 2016 SQL Server instance which has ReportDb of compatibility 2012.

SSRS is of 2012 version, when I point the database to the named instance of 2016,

    I get error message :

"The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid or it cannot be read.

The found version is 175, expected version is 162.(rsInvalidReportServerDatabase).

I tried to delete record from table ServerUpgradeHistory, but it didn't work either.

Do i need to have SSRS 2016 installed in order to connect to Report Server database even though compatibility is 2012?

  • I think ; yes...

  • Yes, you still have 2016 installed (it's just acting like 2012), which is different to actually installing 2012.

    Thom~

Excuse my typos and sometimes awful grammar. My fingers work faster than my brain does.

  • No forward compatibility......you need to install the SSRS version that is expected.
