After successfully completing the SSRS Configuration Manager for 2008 R2, I'm noticing that the virtual directory(http://reportservername:80/reports) isn't being created in IIS.
Any idea why? Thanks in advance.
Update: I just found this article, perhaps that's the issue. Not sure...

is this a named instance of SQL?
what errors do you get when you do try and go to the reports url?
can you post the screen shots of the report manager url screen and web service url screen of the config manager?

There aren't any default instances on this server.
When I try to access the URL, it prompts me for my user name and password, which I enter in correctly three times, then it takes me to http://servername/reportserver, which is a blank page.
Do you recommend a website I can use to post the screenshots to so I can post them here on the forum?

if you save them as jpeg files, you can attach them direct in the forum

I don't understand how to do that. The image icon in this forum is prompting me for a URL to the image.

under the reply text box is a button which says edit attachments, and a list of file extensions which can be uploaded

All of the free image hosting sites like postimage.org are blocked on our network, so I can upload the images/screenshots

OK, they're attached.

if you go to reports do you see the SSRS home page? have you uploaded any objects to SSRS yet?

When you say, "when I go to reports", are you referring to me accessing the URL on the Reporting Configuration Manager screenshot? If so, I get prompted for my username and password, which I enter three times, before getting a blank page on my browser, with "http://servername/reports" in the address box.
I'm new to SSRS (filling in for someone else), so I'm not sure what "uploading objects mean," however I'm trying to install Symantec Enterprise Vault's Reporting tool, which runs on SSRS. I assume the install for this product uploads the necessary objects into SSRS for me.

are you a local admin on the server? this looks permissions related and if it's a new installation only local admins will have login rights
March 14, 2012 at 11:56 am
Yep, I'm a domain admin, and domain admins are in the local admin group on the box.
Shouldn't the Reports virtual directory be showing up in IIS? I was thinking that that may be the issue. I'm wondering if the issue is that that web page simply doesn't exist.

Ssrs has removed its dependency on iis in 2008 so you won't see anything in iis manager.
I'm at a bit of a stump now, you've got access and the report server is configured.

I'm noticing some warnings and Errors in Event viewer that I'm going to have to look into. Please let me know if anything sticks out.
Thanks for your help.

the symetric key is an issue as thats one of the things which handles the authentication.
I would suggest completly removing SSRS rebooting and reinstalling and configuring
