SSRS Collected Pie Chart

  • Hi All

I am trying to replicate the Excel Pie of Pie feature but I am struggling a bit.

I have managed to create the collected pie in ssrs but I am not happy with how it displays the numbers.

    The first chart has a split of 63%, 19% and 19% then the 2nd chart has 38%, 19%, 5%, 5% and 33%.

I want the 2nd chart to reflect the original percentages of the categories.

    Please see attachements.

The PieOfPie Excel file shows what I want to see which is basically the original values of the called out categories.

    Thanks

  • Youl will need to adjust the label to not use #Percent and use an actual calculation of the detail value divided by the grouped value.

  • I used the #VALY but I have changed my chart to the normal because I noticed that the chart legend would have a number for the collected pie and I don't want that. The legend should just have the different categories.

    Thanks

  • You can hide the legend.

  • I need it there, just not that collected figure to appear (please see attached).

  • to get the "sub percentages" you do need to change the label values formula. I would do that first and then see about removing that item from the legend.

  • SceloM:

I realize you're looking to improve your pie-of-pie display. Hopefully, various SSRS pros will be able to assist you to achieve your goal.

In the meantime I'd like to recommend an article about the weaknesses of using pie charts to display data. The article is written by Stephen Few, a data visualization expert:

If you're unable to create a pie-of-pie display to your satisfaction, consider the suggestions in the linked article mentioned above.
