SSRS 2022 Image Source Incorrect

  • I have migrated our SSRS and SQL environments from 2016 to 2022. We use a digital signage company that connects to SSRS externally that was working perfectly in 2016 but now, images in the reports are not rendering correctly for the digital signage platform. Images DO render correctly when I use the external URL from a non-domain joined computer, so I'm at a loss to understand where things are breaking. This screenshot from them suggests that somehow the image src tag is pointing to the physical server SSRS is running on:

DFLCHAMPROD02 is the name of the server and not accessible from outside. This image from what I see in the browser is correct:

You can clearly see the image url is coming from https://dflreports.ddfl.org.... I don't know what the vendor is doing to get the access the report server but either they are doing something wrong and I have no idea what to tell them to point them in the right direction. All of my images are coming from the query so I'm super puzzled about where their image src tag is getting the internal server name from in the first place.

This is their last message to me. They are requesting that I check directory permissions but since the files are not stored in a directory, coming from the database, there aren't any directory permissions that I'm aware of that need to be added.

I did look at the SSRS configuration file from the old server and the only modifications I made were for performance issues that I'm not having in 2022.

    What am I missing?

I don't really know what to try at this point. HTML5 and RPL are both configured render formats so I'm at a complete loss as to what to try. I have searched and all I can find are examples of how to add images to a report and none that address this particular issue.

  • Thanks for posting your issue and hopefully someone will answer soon.

This is an automated bump to increase visibility of your question.
