SSRS 2008 - What is the best way to lock down folders?

  • Hello,

I have deployed SSRS 2008. I've got about 20 folders and about 40 reports in those folders. In another week or so, I plan to migrate to a SSRS 2008 R2 server.

Now management wants me to lock down the folders so each department only see their own folder.

Anyone have a suggestion on how to do this?

    1) Do I let them see the home page?

    2) Then modify the permissions for each departmental subfolder?

Of course you get that prompt saying are you sure, the permissions were inherited.

I just want to make sure that this is the correct approach.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Things will work out.  Get back up, change some parameters and recode.

  • That's what I'd do, yes. Everyone can see the list of all the departments, then use AD groups to grant permission to the different department folders.
