Hi,
Im new to BIDS and I have create a main report, I have then created another report and added this report as a subreport.
I have linked the subreport to the main report by right clicking on the sub and properties and then adding the parameters that the main report has.
Is this correct? As when I run the report it is saying error.
The subreport on its own runs fine.
Thanks
R

What's the error message (sorry but I can't help without that)?
It should be posted in the output list when you run the report... and ususally google helps me figure this out quite easily with that.

Wow, looks like an MS Access message got left over in SSRS... I wish it were more vague :w00t:.
What happens if you run the sub-report only (as if it were a normal report)?
Once that work, maybe we can go back to looking at the link between the 2 reports.

Thanks for the quick repsonse.
I alerady mentioned in the first post that the sub report runs fine on its own, the field one the subreport returns values.
Im new to BIDS so Im not sure where I am doing something wrong

I have to run to a meeting, but I think this can give you some pointers in the mean time...

the parameters on the main report are year, period and bank
So when I right click on subreport and properties, i go to the parameters and put the below
Name Value
Year [@year]
Period [@period]
Bank [@bank]
Is that correct? I've also tried with the brackets but makes no difference.
Thanks

Thanks, looking at that link you gave me, I added the subreport to another report with no parameter and it worked fine!
So its looks like there is something wrong with the parameters??

sorry another update, I just deleted the parameters of the subreport and now it is not giving me an error but a value.
But I dont feel this is right when there is no links between the main report and sub report. I will have to do some testings because at the moment it is just giving me 0.00 value.
Ill be back

Just incase anyone is still looking at this.
I had the same problem as above.
I then created a shared data source and created my main report and subreport so they were using the same shared data source.
It seemed to fix the problem for me.
