SSRS 2008 LOGIN AUTHENTICATION POPUP

  • Guys,

    I am facing an issue here thts hampering my development in SSRS 2008. The issue is related to Login Pop-ups that i get when i try to access the Report Server (SSRS 2008) from a remote machine on my network. I changed the Authentication in RSReportServer.config file from RSWindowsNegotiate to RSWindowsNTLM but that doesnt help. I repeatedly keep getting the pop-up.

    Can anyone provide me help on this. Much appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Gautam Naik

  • I am having the same issue, does anyone have any solution? Thanks, Chris

  • Yup... I have the same problem. We have java/jsp client who redirects to SSRS 2008 via parameterized Url. The first episode provokes a dialog box that requires a system-username and password (i.e. Windows user, not SS or SSRS user). A "remember" checkbox is also offered. Subsequent redirects do not cause the logon dialog to reappear. Closing the original browser instance and opening a new one will cause the logon dialog to be shown again ("remember" does not really work). If I read correctly, SSRS 2008 does not offer its web pages through IIS any more, so there is nothing to do in administrating IIS, correct? Specifying a Windows user in "Reporting Services Configuration Manager | Execution Account" has no effect.

    What entity is hosting "http://host/Reports" and can it be configured to allow anonymous access?

    thx

  • Same problem for me. I have installed a Silverlight 4 (SL) app on our client's server. This application is accessed via the company Intranet. I have assigned the Browser role in SSRS (Home > Folder Settings > New Role Assignment) to the user under which the SL app runs (IIS > Application Pools) -- even tried assigning all Roles to this user. I have added the user group that all domain users are in to SSRS and assigned the Browser Role. Still, the first time a report is requested from the SL app the user is prompted for a login.

    I am using Windows Server 2008 r2, Sql Server Express 2008 r2, client machines are Win 7 or XP (SP3). I have run into this in the past but it is now a HUGE issue. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

  • Ok, my app is installed on a server and accessed from PCs on the same domain -- Intranet app. I have it working in IE, which is cool with me. See this blog post on this site (I added my comments):

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/blogs/pturley/archive/2010/3/16/user-is-prompted-to-login-when-viewing-a-report.aspx

    Hope this helps someone. Saved my rear end.

  • Hi

    I have a similar issue within SSRS2008.

    The setup here is that the SSRS is on 1 domain and all user accounts are disabled as they authenticate and connect via our user domain.

    In

    rsreportserver.config if RSWindowsBasic is set.

    I can connect via my user domain account but have no permissions in Report Server.

    If I use my admin account on the domain hosting SSRS, I can connect with all relevent permissions.

    Though this stops me from connecting to ReportManager via SSMS.

    If I use

    <RSWindowsNegotiate/>

    <RSWindowsNTLM/>

    The logon box keeps prompted for credentials but able to connect via SSMS.

    How do I keep the connection available within SSMS for Reporting Services and allow users in the User Domain to connection with SSRS Roles to the server running SSRS on a different domain?

    Can I use annon

    or could I have it that though they use their credentials it gets transalated to a sql login for ReportServer.

    Thanks

    Clive
