Hi All,
Has anyone had problems with using the custom colours feature on SSMS 2016? I selected different colours for our servers we have here, mainly so I can easily tell if I'm on Live, UAT, DEV and Test, and most of the time the colour of the bar at the bottom is always the same. The most annoying part as well, i it's not even any of the colours I've selected, it's a very dark blue! So dark I can't actually read the text at the bottom.
I decided to reset all my custom colours, but it's still coming up in this dark blue. Does anyone know how to get it back to the default colour? It's really quite frustrating now. I assume there's a option for it in Options->Environment->Fonts and Colours, but I'm yet to find it.
Can anyone help me? If you can advise how to get the bar colouring working as intended as well, that would be great!
Thanks 🙂
Thom~

It's working for me here :ermm:
The default colour is set here:
You don't have any add-ins/extensions do you ?

On SSMS 2016, no. My Options->Editor Tab and Status Bar -> Single server connections is even set to Khaki, but it's still this really dark blue! 🙁
I've even uninstalled and reinstalled, but that kept all my settings... Obviously a classic MS "uninstall", where actually it just removes the binaries -_-

You could try deleting the user data from %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\SQL Server Management Studio\13.0
This is a bit like a "Reset To default" for SSMS, so expect to lose settings - but that's probably good for you.
be aware that "user extensions" are located in there as well, so you would need to re-install any.

I ended up fixing it by changing the colour of every server in my registered servers. It seems that if you simply use Ctrl+N to create a new query, it just picks up the colour of the server at the top of the list, which it appears SSMS thought was horrid dark blue. It's now a pale blue. All my status bars are now pale blue (and when i right click the server and select new query, the correct colour), but it's better than nothing.
Seems that the custom colours feature is still a dream 🙁
