Hi,
Is there a setting somewhere in SSMS (Sql 2012) that will reopen query tabs after a
reboot? I know that I can browse to the temp folder and open them myself, however
it would be good to know if SSMS can just reopen them like Chrome or Firefox
does with tabs.
Thanks in advance

Actually if they are not saved I find that SSMS does tend to prompt you if you want to open previously opened Query Editor windows. You get a window with the file names and whether or not you want to open them. This is if SSMS is closed unexpectedly though.

Hi,
Yes I have that too, although it's hard to see if it's consistent or not. Was just hoping there was a flag which re-opened them, regardless of their saved state.
If it's not there then I'm suprised that MS has not implemented it as it's seems built into must text editors, browser and other programs.

You can try Redgate's SQL Tab Magic (currently free if I'm not mistaken), it does what you want from SSMS and even better 🙂
It also keeps track of tabs you closed yourself.
Need an answer? No, you need a question

Hi, that is interesting. It only works in SSMS 2008, not 2012 and it looks like they may bundle with Sql prompt in the future.
SQL Tab Magic helps you keep track of all your tabs within SQL Server Management Studio. Although currently a free preview application, it may become a feature in an upcoming version of SQL Prompt.
but for now I'm sure using SSMS 2008 is not the end of the world 🙂
