SSMS on Windows 7

  • I have installed SSMS 2005 on a Windows 7 with SP4. When I login locally as an administrator to the machine, I can login to a remote SQL Server using SQL Authentication (sa user or a specific user). When I login to the machine through a domain, I get the 18456 error (wrong password), which I just tried on another box which works fine. I even tried turning off firewall, but it's obviously something wrong with the domain versus local login.

Is there any sort of domain security that would prevent someone from logging into SQL Server?

  • Try running SSMS as a Different user (right click, run as admin or right click run as user)
