In SSMS 2005, the Registered Servers window displayed ABOVE the Object Explorer window. When I needed to connect a new Object Exporer, I simply double-clicked on my registered server and it would connect. That still works in SSMS 2008 but the two windows appear in the same pane now and I have to switch back and forth between the two.
How do I get my Registered Servers window to show up ABOVE the Object Exporer so I don't have to change windows? I know, I'm lazy but... 😀

Took a little bit of experimentation, but this worked. Right click on the tab, change the window to floating. It will detach and be somewhere on your screen. Right click on it again and change to dockable. You can now place it in the window with the Object explorer and the two are as they were.

Experimentation is no joke. They certainly didn't make it easy. Anyhow, thanks for the tip, I was able to get it to finally work.

Great. Glad to hear it. It gave me a little blog post, so it's all good.
