Hi guys
I just want to start a discussion about how to determine whether SSIS or BizTalk is he right candidate to perform a specific Task.
Let´s consider the following scenario:
I have a transactional database, including a transaction header and a transaction detail table. I have to credit or give bonus points to each purchase based on a set of predefined rules.
For instance, based on the amount of the purchase, in the article, in the product group, in a combination of products, etc.
Current process:
- The transactions are imported using a set of SSIS packages
- The transactions are updated with the CRM Ids of the cards and the accounts
- Some BizTalk processes are running in the background. The output of these Processes is bonus points for the transactions.
BizTalk seems to be a great Rule Engine, but in this case I think is sub-used and the costs are very high. Also BizTalk should be used to connect or communicate applications.
May be is better to build these rules within the SSIS process or to build our own rule engine.
In a second scenario I'm collecting changes made over the CRM user interface to the customer data with a SSIS process that runs every day. Then the changes are exported to another company also with SSIS. Would be better to use BizTalk for this task?
I would very nice if some of you can give me your opinion or share your experience?
