If I use 'Database Mail' ('sp_send_dbmail') within MS SQL Server Management Studio the mails are sent successfully.
Using the same SMTP server/address, the process of 'SendMail' fails within my SSIS package.
Any ideas why?

How do I set up the error logging in SSIS?
I also found this information:
McAffee Virus Scan Enterprise was running on the Server and by default is configured with 6 port blocking rules in the Access Protection settings. One of which is "Prevent mass mailing worms from sending mail" by disabling port 25.
So im looking into this...

you found the issue, try to shutwon antivirus and then check the send mail task.
and for logging, you can ssis menu -- ssis logging -- enable it to your desired location.
