To be honest I don't have any experience with BIDS or VS and have never created an SSIS package or done any development stuff.
Here's where I stand:
1. Server where I want to pull data from (Cobol datasource)
2. Local client with SQL Server, BIDS, and the DSN/ODBC connection to the Cobol datasource
3. When I opened Excel >> Data >> Connections >> ADD >> Connection files on this computer >> my ODBC... I am prompted with a 'Select a Table' box with all the tables in the Cobol Datasource.
Now, I want to use BIDS to see and retrieve this data so I can create an SSIS package to put the data into the destination server. However, after creating the Connection manger and successfully testing its connection, I then attempted to create a Data Flow Source but can't seem to access anything...
Should/Can I be using SSMS to do this?

Can't access anything?
Please be more specific in the steps you use to create your Data flow. Tell us what items you are choosing and how you're connecting them together.
