  • Hey Koen,

Nice article. I hope you'll at some point discuss the headaches of managing the execution logs of projects deployed to SSISDB. 🙂

Especially with the headaches that come from running between 30,000 and 50,000 package executions per day 🙂

Someone definitely needs to write that article, I agree.

Nice work Koen. Not sure about 'automatization' though - surely 'automation' does the same job faster? 😛

  • You state that the wizard method of project deployment "is of course not suited to deploy projects to the production server". As someone who is just upgrading from SSIS 2005 to SSIS 2012, I'm curious... WHY is that deployment model not suitable for production?

I suspect it's because we all hope that production DBAs don't use wizards and instead have everything scripted out.

... even though some probably do 🙂

    Thanks guys.

There are already some articles/blogs on the subject of SSISDB logging (and on how it sucks). I believe there are some performance improvements in SP1 or some CU.

Regarding automatization: I looked it up while writing the article and it does seem to exist. 🙂

That's indeed one of the reasons 🙂

The other reason is that I shudder with the thought that someone is giving enough permission to deploy something straight out of a development environment into production.

You're at least missing a step of using a integration/test server.

    Brrrr.... 😀

I'm pretty sure the "wonderful" part was not spam, but a honest-meant comment on the article. 😀

  • Sure. And I also reckon that

    Believe you will love it

refers to the SSIS Catalog maintenance task 🙂

Without a doubt in my mind 😀
